Frequently Asked Questions
For
Employees
Why
should I give through payroll deduction?Contributing through payroll deduction is an easy and
convenient way to give: just fill out your pledge form and
you’re done. Your tax-deductible donation will be paid in
small installments deducted from your check each pay
period.
Which
group will my contribution support? Can I choose more than
one?If you want to have your
gift divided among our all of our member organizations
just designate the Women's Fund of New Jersey. If you
prefer, you may designate one or more of our member
organizations.
How
much of my contribution goes to the actual groups?
All of
it!
100% of workplace contributions go to the organization(s) you choose!
How
is this possible? Don’t you have administrative expenses? Because our administrative
costs are supported through other fundraising efforts, all
of the money raised through workplace giving goes to
support our member organizations. In addition, the Women's
Fund of New Jersey makes every effort to keep
administrative costs at a minimum.
For
Employers
Why should we
introduce a workplace giving campaign? Payroll deductions make
giving easy and offer donors a wide range of charitable
choices that they might not have been aware of otherwise.
Studies show that the average donor contributes three to
five times as much through a payroll deduction than
through outside individual contributions. We live and
work in a hectic world and workplace campaigns reach out
to people who might not have an opportunity to be involved
in other ways.
How
does my workplace include the Women’s Fund of New Jersey
in our current campaign?
It’s easy! If you already
have a payroll deduction campaign in place, you have all
the necessary mechanisms up and running. WFNJ will
coordinate our campaign with the existing one so that it
will run on the same time line and we will work with your
payroll department.
What
if we do not have a campaign? How is one started?
You already have payroll
deduction a process for things like medical benefits and
retirement costs, so it is easy to include philanthropic
donations. We will work with you to introduce the campaign
to your employees in a way that best fits the needs of
your organization. All contribution information is
confidential unless the donor indicates otherwise.
Will
adding the Women’s Fund of New Jersey hurt existing
campaigns?
Typically, a
well-organized, multi-federation campaign boosts employee
participation and the total amount of contributions. In
most cases there is an increase in support for all
participating charities and in some cases, the increase
has been substantial.
